Spring Grove Market Garden is a 4 acre block of fertile land on a gentle south facing slope about 9 miles west of Taunton in Somerset, used until last year as an organic market garden. Mature fruit and nut trees, pollarded willow, mixed native hedging and herbaceous perennial stock beds for cut flowers.

The house is a timber frame and lime-rendered straw bale chalet bungalow designed and built by ourselves to Building Regs standards and completed in 2014. Woodfired heating and off-grid pv electricity system. It was designed as a single 3 to 4 bedroom dwelling and could easily be reconverted to the original design. Currently it is set out as two separate living spaces, one with one large bedroom and the other with two smaller bedrooms. Both have open plan kitchen/living/dining areas and bathrooms.

Other buildings and structures include a straw bale barn, large chicken house, 3 polytunnels and various other outbuildings.

The holding is subject to an Agricultural Occupancy Condition.

The situation of the property is rural but not totally isolated: there are no houses immediately adjoining the holding, but there are scattered dwellings and farms nearby. There are far reaching views to the Quantocks and the Blackdown Hills. The pretty village of Milverton is 1.5 miles away with a good primary school and village shop. The small town of Wiveliscombe is about 3 miles away and has a secondary school, a range of shops and a farmer’s market. Exmoor is half an hour’s drive away.
